Funded PhD and postdoc positions in cardiovascular and autonomic physiology
Want to live, study and play in beautiful BC? The laboratories for Drs Foster and West have funding
currently available for postdoctoral fellows interested in studying therapeutic strategies for improving
cardiovascular function in persons with spinal cord injury. The labs focus on hypoxia and cardiovascular
control in both humans and animal models and utilize a variety of techniques including ultrasound,
microneurography, blood pressure monitoring, blood gas control, and cardiac pressure-volume loops.
The labs offer an open and inclusive work environment, a competitive stipend/salary, and benefits from
a rich collaborative network with other researchers at the Centre for Heart, Lung and Vascular Health
(CHLVH), the Centre for Chronic Disease Prevention and Management (CCDPM), and the International
Collaboration on Repair Discovery (ICORD), as well as a number of Industry collaborations. Interested
applicants should be nearing the completion of their PhD or possess a PhD in a related area. Applicants
should have expertise working with and recruiting from a patient population, have evidence of high quality
scholarly output, and have a strong academic background in either integrated systems physiology
or spinal cord injury. Applicants will be expected to apply for additional post-doctoral funding
