Registration is now open for the inaugural Okanagan Cardiovascular & Respiratory Symposium, hosted by the Centre for Heart, Lung & Vascular Health.
Taking place March 20 to 22, 2014 at the Silver Star Mountain Resort in Vernon, BC, Canada, the international Symposium features, among other program highlights, three notable keynote speakers: Professors Peter Raven (University of North Texas Health Science Center), Frank Dinenno (Colorado State University), and Bill Milsom (University of British Columbia).
On Day 1 (Thursday, March 20), Prof. Milsom’s keynote presentation is on adaptations to the respiratory system during hypoxia. On Day 2, Prof. Dinenno talks about control of vascular tone in exercise and hypoxia. On Day 3, Prof. Raven addresses arterial and cardiopulmonary baroreflexes during exercise.
Scientific Session speakers include Professors Damian Bailey (University of Glamorgan), Mark Haykowsky and Darren DeLorey (University of Alberta), Mike Koehle (UBC), Andy Lovering (University of Oregon), and Caroline Rickards (University of North Texas Health Science Center).

IMPORTANT DATES & REGISTRATION INFO
Conference dates: The Symposium commences Thursday afternoon and will end Saturday evening with the option to stay and ski on Sunday (Day 4). Check out is Sunday March 23rd, with the option of extending your stay at the 15% discount.

Important dates:January 15, 2014 is the final date to book hotel accommodation at the reduced rate; February 7, 2014 is the abstract deadline and deadline for graduate award competition; and Feb. 21, 2014 is the conference registration deadline.
Venue: The Symposium is held at the beautiful Silver Star Mountain Resort, British Columbia, Canada. The resort is located at the north end of the Okanagan Valley, approximately 20 minutes by car from the city of Vernon. The nearest airport is Kelowna International Airport. The airport is approximately a one hour drive from Silver Star. By air, Kelowna airport (YLW) is approximately one hour west of Calgary and one hour east of Vancouver. Silver Star is in the Pacific Time Zone (Coordinated Universal Time minus 8 hours).
